What a Friend Piano Lesson
In this free piano lesson we will be learning the song 'What a Friend We Have in Jesus' with a neo-classical
twist. We will be using a simple repetitive ostinato pattern for the left hand while our right hand focuses on the melody. We will be
playing this old gospel tune in the key of F Major. To keep it simple, we will only use a few chords which are listed below the way I play
them in this piano video.
F Major Scale = f-g-a-bb-c-d-e-f
(F Major Chord = f-a-c) (Bb Major Chord = bb-d-f) (C7 = bb-c-e-g)
It is a good idea to get the left hand down by practicing it for a few minutes. You can check out the video under the left hand
pattern section to see just how it is done in this video. You will also need to know the inversions of all these chords as well as the chords themselves. We also have an article on easy chord construction as well that will assist with this song.
